Chateau Fombrauge is a place full of history. On the one hand there is a vineyard which dates from the 16th century and on the other hand, there is an elegant chartreuse dating from the 17th century. In the beginning the domain was mainly focussing on agriculture (mainly grain cultivation) Since September 2012 the efforts and investments of Bernard Magrez and his team are rewarded as the estate was promoted to Saint-Emilion Grand Cru.
The vineyards, with a total surface of 58 hectares, are spread over the municipalities of Saint-Christophe-des-Bardes , Saint- Etienne-de -Lisse and Saint-Hippolyte ,located in the extension of the plateau and the slopes of Saint-Emilion. These grounds are varied in composition and are giving the wines their great complexity.
