This variety is a natural mutation of the Piquepoul noir.
The clusters are large and the berries are medium in size. If the soil is suitable, it is possible to produce dry white wines that are pleasant but always have a nervous side. Because of the late maturity of this grape it should be planted in a warm climate. The best wines are made from plants planted around the Mediterranean sea area. Certainly those that are planted on the banks of the oyster beds are worth tasting.
Surface planted in France.
